IMPORTANT NEWS: FoST runner-up World Challenge 2007

World challenge awardDear everyone,

I am very happy to tell you that FoST is runner up in the World Challenge 2007 and has won $10.000 in this global competition organized by BBC World, Shell and Newsweek. With more than a 1000 nominations / participants from around the world, it is a fantastic achievement for this small, but very dedicated Nepalese organization.

Because of surgery to his back Sanu Kaji Shrestha couldn't travel from Nepal to Holland, so he asked me to represent him at the World Challenge ceremony in the Hague to accept the prize. Which as you can imagine was an honor for me.

Here I received the certificate and prize for FoST Nepal from Roxanna Decyk, Shell Director Corporate Affairs
Myself with the project from Peru
The 3 finalists of the World Challenge 2007, with people from the BBC World (organizers) and people from Newsweek and Shell (sponsors)

Thanks to the exposure in Newsweek and on BBC World over the last month, Sanu has already received more than a dozen request from countries in Africa, Asia, South America and even in the Pacific of people and organizations who now want to replicate FoST's technologies, projects and ideas!
This month Sanu Kaji Shrestha is invited to Cambodia to teach his skills and share is knowledge with the Grady Grossman school. And this is only the beginning..

For us this is a dream come true, because now Sanu can help the Nepalese rural and urban poor, while protecting the environment, but he can share his work with the rest of the world who are facing the same daily struggles and hardships in life. FoST's solutions to these global problems are so simple and cheap, but highly effective. This small Nepalese organization is becoming an example to many countries in the world.

I would like to thank you all for your support and for your vote. I am very grateful!

If you want to be a part of this great project, maybe by helping FoST with fundraising, volunteering or by making a donation so that FoST can focus even more on their efforts, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can also contact Sanu Kaji Shrestha on www.fost-nepal.org

FoST NEPAL 2006-2007

End of 2006 Edwin, our daughter Zoë and myself left to Nepal to work as volunteers. It was a great experience we will never forget.

We thought it would be a great idea to film our experiences in Nepal and also to make a small promotional documentary about the organization we visited. We wanted to show step by step how this organization called FoST is working, where the money is spend on, who exactly is benefiting from donations, the programs, the devices and products, the people involved etc...

For more information about FoST and it’s founder Sanu Kaji Shrestha go to PROJECTS, watch our ONLINE VIDEO or go to PHOTO GALLERY have a look at the photo’s I made during our trip.

Remember we are not professional documentary makers (yet), but we are a small Dutch family trying to do some humanitarian work and help our planet. This was our own initiative, we financed the whole trip ourselves and my husband and I worked on the video in the evenings after work.

If you would like to receive an original copy of the video, please let me know as I would be delighted to send it to you.
